I’ve been noticing something interesting lately while participating in a few interaction designer interviews.

When asked about inspirations and keeping up with the latest in design trends, candidates invariably rattle off the same list of blogs: Signal vs. Noise, Adaptive Path and A List Apart.

I don’t even get a Meyer or a Bowman, much less an r.bird, Stylegala or any of the smaller design gems on 9rules.

Does this mean those top 3 are out of date, or as Fried suggested, jumped the shark? Nah. A List Apart specifically is now better than ever, Adaptive Path continues to lead new thought, and 37s set the bar for web application design. But where are the new, innovative, out of the box thinkers, and who’s reading them?
